I am a Counseling Psychology PhD student at Teachers College, Columbia University, which occupies the ancestral land of Lenni-Lenape and Wappinger peoples.


I am currently a member of the Stigma, Identity, and Intersectionality Research Lab and see individual psychotherapy and assessment clients at Dean Hope Center.


My research interests broadly include the intersecting identities of Black gender and sexual diverse individuals.

STIGMA, IDENTITY, AND INTERSECTIONALITY LAB

Conduct a literature review for research related to the mental health of Black nonbinary individuals while expanding upon my master’s thesis. Utilize Qualtrics to create research study surveys. Conduct literature reviews for Black individuals’ experiences at work and sexual minority individuals’ experiences in psychotherapy. Take notes for biweekly lab meetings and disseminate tasks to lab members. Periodically update the lab website and monitor research assistant applications. Conduct interviews for potential research assistants

EMPOWERMENT LAB

Identified LGBTQIA+ areas with a dearth of research, conceived thesis question, reviewed the literature on Black nonbinary individuals, conducted data collection, and defended thesis. Utilized Qualtrics and SPSS to organize the longitudinal research responses of over 600 nonbinary, transgender, and two-spirit individuals. Calculated participant measure scores and identified trends. Created codebooks and analyzed data results regarding BIPOC nonbinary resilience and disclosure.

CCET-SMS RESEARCH ASSISTANT

Created surveys and consent forms in Qualtrics to collect, analyze, and interpret participant pre- and post-workshop data. Recruited couples through social media, listserves, and convenience sampling to reach our quota. Facilitated workshops to instruct LGBTQ+ couples on implementing dyadic coping to handle everyday stressors, minority stressors, and relational stressors for the Couples Coping Enhancement Training–Sexual Minority Stress project.

PLENA RESEARCH LAB

Examined literature that conceptualizes and disseminates research in multiculturalism and Liberation Psychology for dissertations and conference posters with lab members. Analyzed research to create conference posters on Latinx resilience, Latina ADHD, and coloniality. Cultivated sources for dissertations and conference posters with lab members. Attended weekly lab meetings and individual mentorship meetings to aid my professional development and overall success.

DEC 2020 - APR 2022

my hair, my crown

Facilitated the My Hair, My CROWN workshop for Black girls ages 11 to 14, which was designed to strengthen Black girls’ self-esteem, hair satisfaction, and acceptance and was developed into an intervention delivered on Dove’s website. Coded participant interviews and analyzed data to examine the effects of the workshop on girls’ hair satisfaction, confidence, and acceptance. Co-authored the first manuscript outlining the need for the workshop—currently the first author of the second manuscript, which focuses on outlining the workshop’s results.
